I recently spent a month in Toronto visiting family and friends. It was a nice change of scenery from California. The way the snowflakes sparkled like diamonds as they blanketed the streets, the refreshing chill of winter winds against your cheek while bundled up in winter coats, the pulse of the city as all sorts of different people came and went. There’s a special sort of satisfaction from sipping on a hot beverage cozy inside while watching the snow fall outside. The contrast between warm inside and c old outside deepens one’s appreciation for the current moment.
Coming back to sunny California after a month in the cold, I’m appreciating my surroundings with fresh eyes. Being able to bask in the sun’s warmth under a clear blue sky day after day (it’s not uncommon to go weeks without sun in Canada). The abundance of green space for Kuma to explore. How spacious and familiar our home is after living in a studio AirBnb. Our time away reminded us of all the lovely things we’d taken for granted to in our current situation. It’s good to be home.
