I’m a big fan of guided runs, basically a running coach in your ear. The most recent guided run was about celebrating wins. The coach talked about how most of us tend to beat ourselves up for lack of progress while rarely celebrating what we have accomplished. We ration celebrations for the big milestones like getting a promotion and deny ourselves joy for small steps along the way like starting a project. They argue that celebrating smaller wins more often leads to more motivated humans. That means learning to celebrate all the small steps like starting a run and not just finishing a run.
